Although he may look like a joke, I assure you the most dangerous person in that room is Gretel's dad. Because he's the only hacker in the room.

The wrestler and his wife are back! Although they don't get much screentime, they do have an important role to play. Remember what it is?

Hmm. I know they're planning on having a baby together! xD;; Probably not the important part though.

Is Hans/Gretel's mom based off Italian mannerisms?
view 6th Oct 2011, 12:56 AM edit delete reply
Japanese by structure, American by birth, Italian by childhood. It's a complicated life.

Gretel's mom is a good looking robot. Reminds me of Tali from Mass Effect. I could imagine her voice here even.

Ha ha, Gretel's mom is a scary-looking robot! If you want to imagine Tali's voice, go ahead, but I was trying to give her a raggeder voice than that.

I guess I just like the people who are meant to scare other people. I like girls with some kind of mean edge I suppose.

I may just stay in my fantasy world with the voice. She needs to talk more and I'll see.

She doesn't talk a lot...

so does the baby get a mask? or is it's face a mask?

It'll still be quite a few pages before you find out.

I believe Esteban has truly mastered the art of greeting.

Is Hansel jealous or something? Or is he just unimportant for the moment?
view 6th Oct 2011, 12:58 PM edit delete reply
Hans' the only kid his age at the moment, aside from Gretel. So he's just kind of lurking.

I haven't seen Mass Effect, but i hear a very tranquil voice from Gretel's mum. Which could suit her more because calm voices on awesome looking robots like her seem to have a more ominous effect. Maybe that's just me though... :)

Well, I certainly won't complain.

what happened to Jim in the last panel? WHAT DID ESTEBAN DO TO JIM!?

while i love the digitigrade style of Gretel's mom's legs, is it on purpose that she's not actually walking on the tips of her feet? if they were true digitigrade legs her heels should not touching the ground.
tteclod 6th Oct 2011, 2:51 PM edit delete reply
Concur to both, but explanation may be forthcoming.

What are these mortal things you call "heels" and "toes"?

She has an extra joint, because they decided she needed to be able to extend her toes up to 10cm from the base in order to spread her weight, slow the impact on falls, and so on. Her toes are "retracted" right now.

... Not that it'll ever come up, but she's more like an elephant with a weight baffling system than a wolf.

I imagine Gretel's mom sounds a bit like GLaDOS when you kill the first orb.

I didn't really think Gretel's mom mannerism was odd or particular, but I now realize that's because I'm Italian myself and it's pretty standard greeting when it comes to women.

Also, the 'fat' and 'muscle' joke is pretty good. I guess he just likes that kind of look?

He's full of scanners, quantum communication arrays, and extra computers.
