It's not important to the story, but qmem is quantum memory. Quantum memory is volatile, so losing power clears it. While data can be permanently stored in a hard drive, the complex personality calculations that make a robot a robot are quantum in nature, so are lost when power is cut.

Most robots are set up so that if they lose their quantum memory, their personal memories also clear off their hard drive. Otherwise, there's a lot of confusion as they have memories but react to them wrong or dispassionately. Better to have no memories at all! This is called "factory default", and is not a blank slate. It's just the robot with a default personality and memory.

KPU: kinetic processing unit. When it goes down, you need to use general processing to move your body, and that's not really suitable.

This page uses fat lines. Probably a poor choice. :P

Is all this about qmem and the like real robotics, or just babble you've come up with for the comic? I don't follow robotics closely, so I'm not sure....

When Kersie talks, are the underlines indicating a style, or accent, or am I just thinking about it too much?
