I'm a grumpy, eeeevvviilll person for what I want to happen. That or too many dramatic horror movies last night (two).

what? they wait until midnight to take the kid out of the metaphoric oven? it's an artificial child, they can just announce his 'birth' when he's ready. this is like stuffing a watermelon in the mother's hoo-haa just to make it more realistic.

... Think for a second. Why would you wait until after midnight?

Perhaps because it's a different day? IE, not Gretel's birthday?

oh, they're trying being 'considerate'.

i never believed in 'consideration'.

I think it's cute that they're waiting for their son. Especially to be considerate to Gretel. Also waiting kind of reflects the whole humans needing to wait to have their children thing.

Well, to be honest, there's a soft rule that only one robot should have an "upgrade birthday" per day. Gretel will upgrade in five years, and five years after a child is born they are upgraded to a child body (from the toddler body).
