There is no possible way for you to guess what kind of wonder they're heading towards. If you do, though, I'll draw you a picture of your choice.

Ground zero for a nuclear warheads detonation. Wrong, probably, awesome, yes.

It's much more amazing than that.

The ruins of that Metropolis place mentioned way back? A land of cascading waterfalls? TWO nuclear warhead impact sites??

Yes, an hour's walk from town. :|

Small neutron bombs. Really small.

Was it even a war that created the apocalypse in this story? Or did society just kinda fall?

Ehhh, it's complicated.

Haha! If I had a dime for everytime that statement blocked me from information.

It's going to be a tide pool, right? Where they're going to drink some booze and play rock-paper-scissors. I'm right, I'm... fuck, I'm thinking of a completly different comic, aren't I?

They're still a bit young for that kind of story...
Somerandomguy 13th Dec 2011, 4:06 AM edit delete reply
They are going to find an ancient ruined strip mall hobby collector shop with vintage D&D books and such.

Ha ha, no but that's a pretty fun guess.
Iamari 13th Dec 2011, 4:45 AM edit delete reply
My guess is going to be vague because I'm not sure what it is. Something he hopes will impress Gretel enough to make her fall head over hills in love with him.

Ehhh, can't cop out like that! "What'll they find?" "A thing!"

I knew I wouldn't get it right so I was trying to guess why. By the way, does he have a name and I'm just too stupid to remember? Or is he like Esteban's wife to be named at a later date?

They go to an old gynasium. That's something Gretel would love.
ZombieDerf 13th Dec 2011, 6:07 AM edit delete reply
being as I am a total mech fanatic. I would say they would head out to an old, cleared-out excavation site or ruins of mechanical nature. maybe even a sneak peek of metal gear rex. lol

Ehhh, that's not a bad guess. If nobody gets any closer, this'll win.

is it smaller than a bread box?
lolz

That would have been an interesting choice, but this is way less likely.

Last guess. They find the spider tank's big brother. Only it's still armed with weapons, but they don't know it. And possibly robots much like Gretel and them only programmed for war. This kid was shown as being clueless earlier in the story so I see him as trying to impress the group by finding something like the tank, but it backfires terribly.

Not surprised. Never would have guessed that anyway without the other dude. I just wanted you to churn out my Christmas card for this year. Back to stealing mail then!

The Hall of Presidents on the now-ruined site of the former Disneyland.

Where Lincoln rules the other automatons with a literally-iron fist.

It's a small world after all if the mid/southwest US is an hour's walk from Disneyland!

You never specified the apocalyptic event. Maybe it involved some incredible seismic activity and continental superdrift.

That's "complicated" enough, right?
JasperWB 13th Dec 2011, 10:35 PM edit delete reply
JasperWB
Speaking as southwest desert folk, anywhere here is an hours walk from Disneyland in the dead of summer. If you just think you're in Disneyland run by the hall of presidents you'd be lucky

My guess is... a run down arcade with old-school videogames. I find hard to believe that it would still have running electricity, tho.

That's kind of an oddly specific guess, but far too commonplace!
