Lotsa transitions! A biobreak is like a firebreak, except for life forms.

duLapel's request was rather aggressively open-ended, so I drew him this:

It'll be on the extras page whenever I get around to it, too.

It's wonderful... Gretel all grown up >.< "Uhh... one-piece wedgie!"

Thank you view! ^_^

Damn techno-activists. Get off my lawn!

I'll keep things brief today. A vein collapsed on the back of my hand and my wrist turned a nice purple and hurts to bend. I received pity only from the amazed doctor at how it had never happened to him before.

Ow! Always a pain in the roscoes when the warranty runs out and parts start to malfunction.
JasperWB 24th Jan 2012, 1:32 AM edit delete reply
I invested in no warranty or got screwed. When and if I get old its going to be hell.

And I just noticed Jim enjoying the view. Can't blame him. I see why view has always gone by some version of the word. This art is allllll about it!

"Whatcha doin'?".... "Sigh" I serve Cats who act just this way!

So those UFO's in 197 were in fact police drones? Also, panel 1 Mary...Hmm. idk why, but it just seems strange to me that someone could become authoritative and somewhat aloof during their rebellious teenage years, and then return to a state of childishness and wild emotion upon adulthood.

Come to think of it, I've got this all wrong. Most of the time we've only seen Mary when she's with Jim, and when she isn't dealing with him she appears to be quite bossy and even cold, although being in proximity with him seems to reduce her to the naked child she used to be jumping impulsively on his ass. I guess she's one of those people who can't control themselves when they have feelings for someone, and makes a terrible seductress - her awkwardness with Jim only makes her more self-conscious which in turn makes her more awkward and goofy. ---> vicious cycle, bla bla bla.

Hmm, it feels weird to directly write down my thought train. I must look like a pedantic swine.

She's naturally kind of a bitch, but it never really bloomed because she's spent her life watching the two men in her life conquer the world. Your diagnosis is correct.
JasperWB 24th Jan 2012, 1:50 AM edit delete reply
In an alternate universe we may all hate Mary worse than Miwa. Funny how things work out.

Compared to her brother or the goggle robot, she still would have seemed like a saint.
JasperWB 24th Jan 2012, 2:19 AM edit delete reply
Ah. Stupid radicals. If only her brother did better though. Sad he's not around. He seems interesting!
Seafog 24th Jan 2012, 2:26 AM edit delete reply
Ok, who are the two men in her life? Jim the AI/robotics expert and, presumably, social activist is one. If her brother is not the other one, who is?
I tend to be rather poor at character differentiation, especially when the story comes a piece at a time, so this isn't a riff on your comics, just me.
view 24th Jan 2012, 2:39 AM edit delete reply
It's her brother.
Archduke 24th Jan 2012, 11:31 AM edit delete reply
Hm, I guess we've only seen their good side - presumably they act fairly nice towards friends but don't give a shit about what happens to anyone else. You know, looking back at page 133 Mary's brother seems unrecognisable. Did you change his design? Also, I guess I can say with confidence that robotic-arm girl was Jim's early girlfriend? I still find it strange that Jim was simply ready to kill that man, without emotion or hesitation. Rather callous.

That picture was taken long before these events. That was back before he watched Akira and Labyrinth back-to-back.

Well, Jim probably wasn't going to kill him, but his friends thought he was. Either way, the guy was chosen specifically because he was a shit, so Jim's already familiar with his previous abuses.

I've actually watched Akira and Labyrinth back-to-back and it made me want to kill... as well as giving me a nearly uncontrollable urge to juggle crystal balls while riding a muscle motorcycle.

He tried to juggle crystal balls, but he couldn't do it... he does own a bright red motorcycle, though.

If everything is happening at the same (absence of) time, then all one needs to do is select the parts you like best.
Seafog 24th Jan 2012, 2:31 AM edit delete reply
Heh, I don't hate, or even really dislike, Mary or Miwa. I mostly feel sad for Miwa, what she is doing to herself and those around her. She is very smart, but that does not mean she is any more (probably less) likely to see herself truly clearly and objectively.

Re: police drones; They are the same four folding fans design as Jianquo's rescue copter. <page 193>

Well, the rescue copter is about 10x bigger...

The last panel of this page seems <to me> to be one of those lovely little domestic moments that are never appreciated until they are irretrievably lost and gone. I feel dramatic and unavoidable changes coming real soon! <of course that's not a very hard prediction to make> {and a Good Night to one and all}

Is the dream/VR sequence over? i'm so confused

View is using mottled shading between panels as an indicator of dream/flashback sequences.

View, if you still see comments ... (For future reference) The common device of having wavy or thought-bubbly panel edges might be clearer to readers. And if you could indicate the transitions between memory/flashback scenes with extra visual cues, that might also help out well -- say, between appropriate panels with a thick jagged line or an edgy bubble with a good word (Pop? Whoosh? Flip? .. ). Maybe you could think of something better, but I hope you understand the idea I'm trying to get across.

Again there, I know I'm coming in three or four years late, but if it helps, then it helps. And if it does not, then and extra types, it should not hurt anything. :-)
