Wish the little robot ran by him screaming "my fingers!" ... If this is a bio-weapon meant to deal with tanks, that didn't have a problem with a human working on it for some weeks, but spazzed out the second a robot touched it, I'd imagine sending in another robot to deal with it is going to wind up in many many little peices. sadness.
JasperWB 1st Jun 2012, 9:20 PM edit delete reply
Well this is depressing.

Estaban no! You're the best character amigo!
cattservant 1st Jun 2012, 10:02 PM edit delete reply
Apparently no thinking first this round!
pancake 1st Jun 2012, 10:07 PM edit delete reply
someone didn't think this through..
cattservant 1st Jun 2012, 10:11 PM edit delete reply
So, is there a plan here or are they just making it up as they go along?
Meanwhile let's just hang off this cliff for a couple of days...
Panda! 1st Jun 2012, 10:57 PM edit delete reply
Well view has said a few times that Estabans body is very high end and costs a ton to maintain. It might be because of XVT.
pancake 1st Jun 2012, 11:49 PM edit delete reply
i doubt that very much. i don't think they'd let someone haul around something so dangerous on a daily basis. or at all, really.
view 2nd Jun 2012, 12:54 AM edit delete reply
The town does not have any XVT. They destroy it, not collect it.
cattservant 2nd Jun 2012, 1:36 AM edit delete reply
Thanks, that lends some clarity. I had gotten the impression somewhere that XVT doesn't break down and assumed that they had to physically remove it.
view 2nd Jun 2012, 1:41 AM edit delete reply
It doesn't break down, but it can be annulled.
cattservant 2nd Jun 2012, 2:30 AM edit delete reply
Is that what Jack is referring to on (Page 97; panel 1)?
Phuji 2nd Jun 2012, 12:08 AM edit delete reply
Who's to say that Esteban isn't built to be resistant to it, hence the way he's handling this situation?

He's taking out the legs so the Tank will be immobilized and able to be dealt with without fear of getting crushed by a moving spider tank.

Sure, he probably feels a slight pinch... but I'm confident that both he and Jim know what they are doing.
cattservant 2nd Jun 2012, 12:17 AM edit delete reply
Removing the legs would be good tactics. Makes it more difficult for Mr. Slime Tendrils to attack or run away. They probably really want to keep it out of the lake too!

No Estaban, don't do it! Your adorable little robot kid is going to grow up without a daddy T.T
Meh.Aloe 2nd Jun 2012, 2:58 AM edit delete reply
Will grow up with a version of daddy... who skipped over the part of his life where he actually decided to have a child. D: Confusing!
Meh.Aloe 2nd Jun 2012, 3:48 AM edit delete reply
Spider tank, spider tank. Filled with mud, it's old and dank. Spins a web, oddly sharp! Lives inside an ugly tarp! Look out: here comes a spider tank!

Is it safe? Listen, bud: it's got bioweapon blood. Can it swing from a thread? Prolly not, it's made of lead. Hey there- there goes a spider tank.

On a waaarm, nice day, at an innocent scene, like a buuug that's splayed, it bursts goop from the seeeams!

Spider tank, spider tank! Anti-neighbourhood spider tank! Meddling Jim, it's ignored! Squashing 'bots, its reward!

Our heroes may have messed up! Let's hope they all have back-ups! Cuz they've found a spider tank!
JasperWB 2nd Jun 2012, 4:03 AM edit delete reply
We need a Bat Tank now. Cause everyone knows Bat Tank is better than Spider Tank! The Marvel Tanks universe is subpar!
cattservant 2nd Jun 2012, 8:08 AM edit delete reply
I still think that Mr. Slime Tendrils is like a hermit crab, using the derelict tank body as a protective shell.
view 2nd Jun 2012, 1:45 PM edit delete reply
Well, yes, I outright stated that, I think.
JasperWB 2nd Jun 2012, 2:05 PM edit delete reply
Hmm. That means that either the slime is purposely not cutting through the metal of the tank, or it can't cut through it. Esteban could be safe if he is made of a similar material or keeps holding onto the leg because the slime doesn't want to destroy it.

So maybe they do have an emergency protocol all planned out after all!
Meh.Aloe 2nd Jun 2012, 2:10 PM edit delete reply
We've seen some of the tendrils go through the tank's shell, it seems, so I think it could cut Estaban to slices if it wanted to. Instead, it wants to take control of him, and turn him into a zombie! A robot zombie! Robot zombie apocalypse time.
JasperWB 2nd Jun 2012, 2:29 PM edit delete reply
Really? I figured when it looked like it went through the shell it was only going through vents and the like. I don't think it ever cut the shell right out.
Meh.Aloe 2nd Jun 2012, 2:51 PM edit delete reply
I think in the page where Hansel first wakes the beast, we see the tendrils punching new holes in the tank's shell. Not really "cutting", I suppose... Either way, I suppose we shall continue to get a more clearerer picture when the next page comes not-tomorrow! :D
cattservant 3rd Jun 2012, 3:24 PM edit delete reply
@Meh.Aloe RE:Robot zombie; Very good point. If Mr. Slime Tendrils is smart enough, he wouldn't want to waste such a fine new resource. Much better than a derelict old spider tank!
cattservant 2nd Jun 2012, 3:02 PM edit delete reply
@view: Yes, thank you. I was adding a touch of emphasis to the concept. Just cliffhanging otherwise.
G-Rock 2nd Jun 2012, 5:09 PM edit delete reply
I saw this as a possible scenario, but I was really hoping it wouldn't happen. I really really hope Esteban makes it through this alright. I'm a damned adult and I still don't know what I'd do without my dad.
cattservant 2nd Jun 2012, 7:57 PM edit delete reply
As the town warrior, he probably keeps very current offsite backups.
Guest 3rd Jun 2012, 8:56 AM edit delete reply
I think the fact the wire is currently *wrapped* around him is good news. It means it didn't slice right through him.
AlfaFoxtail 2nd Jun 2012, 7:27 PM edit delete reply
man the tip of this cliff is crowded..
cattservant 2nd Jun 2012, 7:53 PM edit delete reply
Jump over and drop down a few feet. There's plenty of room here in the side bushes.
Banjopicker 2nd Jun 2012, 11:06 PM edit delete reply
Could the slime tendrils take over other robots?
cattservant 3rd Jun 2012, 12:02 AM edit delete reply
Do you mean physically or hacking? Seems like it would depend on how high a level of function the weapons designers put into it.
cattservant 3rd Jun 2012, 3:17 PM edit delete reply
doom dark fuzzy spheres!

Why did this image take so long when i said i'd so it in a day??? View, i'm amazed and congratulate at how you find the time to do this everyday. Anyway the comic's looking better than ever with all this slime action, reminds me of how venom took over spidy with symbiosis... sort of, also even if esteban does take off the leg won't the tendrils be able to take the form of a leg? I mean it looks pretty strong already to have used the tank as a shell to move in muscle like ways instead of using electricity (it's derelict and almost has no power doesn't it?).
