There, much less depressing.

Miwa looks extra tall here...
view 14th Jun 2012, 10:03 PM edit delete reply
She's the same height as Jim.
Phuji 14th Jun 2012, 10:31 PM edit delete reply
It's not that Miwa is extra tall. It's just that Mary is short (p313) and makes Miwa appear to be much taller by comparison.

i'm sure this is a lot clearer to many of the other readers, anybody wants to help me with where are we now?
JasperWB 14th Jun 2012, 10:17 PM edit delete reply
So you're saying its as clear as...mud?!
cattservant 16th Jun 2012, 5:44 PM edit delete reply
A faint reference to the trenches on the Western Front perhaps. Miwa's going to have unlimited opportunity to rearrange the landscaping.

I'm not sure if you have a different definition of depressing as I, or are a master of sarcasm. Either way the little lump is back. If the comic is as close to completion as some imply, I don't see how Mary's story can end in anything more than bittersweet. Hopefully more sweet than bitter.

There's plenty of time left - around a chapter!
pancake 14th Jun 2012, 11:28 PM edit delete reply
sarcasm it is, i take it?
JasperWB 14th Jun 2012, 11:41 PM edit delete reply
No. This page is the turn around. There is comfort provided, the dawn is breaking, a glimpse of hope! This page isn't sad, its the rise from the bottom!
JasperWB 14th Jun 2012, 10:21 PM edit delete reply
Poor Mary. So are all the uplifted octopi gone or were there any in tanks like in the page early in the comic when they first mess with the speech thing to have them call Mary mom? And how many octopi were part of the program anyway?
view 14th Jun 2012, 10:28 PM edit delete reply
The tank was just for that injured one. It got better.

There were around sixty octopuses.
JasperWB 14th Jun 2012, 10:35 PM edit delete reply
Ah. Ohh. Damn.
Gigan 15th Jun 2012, 1:38 AM edit delete reply
Is it cleanup bacteria... or is the XVT making the water steam like that?
view 15th Jun 2012, 1:41 AM edit delete reply
Its a million gallons of simple biochemicals being eaten by post-cleanup bacteria.
Gigan 15th Jun 2012, 2:28 AM edit delete reply
So... no more octopi ever, or they have to start all over with some un-uplifted ones?
JasperWB 15th Jun 2012, 2:52 AM edit delete reply
Would that also mean that if Miwa's pool grotto thing wasn't already heated, the water in it would be warmed?
view 15th Jun 2012, 3:11 AM edit delete reply
Miwa's pool water is filtered properly, since it's coolant.
Sheela 15th Jun 2012, 1:41 AM edit delete reply
Seems like Miwa gets to return the boob-squishing favor sooner than she anticipated.
duLapel 15th Jun 2012, 2:03 AM edit delete reply
I find it amusing that your concept of XVT (silicate bases reducer of complex biologicals) is similar to the fear of SRM Nanites turning everything into gray goo... formaldehyde, ketones, esters, methyl mercaptan, etc.... What a lovely bouquet that goo must have... I bet'cha Miwa's grotto gets its water directly from the clear clean lake!!! ... no wonder why it melted... *sigh* The joys of Total War!
view 15th Jun 2012, 2:29 AM edit delete reply
You got it!

Undead H3r3tic
So is the XVT more of a terror weapon than a WMD, or is it still both?
view 15th Jun 2012, 4:10 AM edit delete reply
Oh, it's a weapon, and it's massively destructive.

But it's also very predictable and, while in the air, disperses in a contained pattern. So you can usually escape unless you're directly downwind.

The problem is groundwater contamination...
JasperWB 15th Jun 2012, 4:17 AM edit delete reply
Are there any different afflictions it causes while it's airborne? Like suffering instantly from mustard gas' prolonged effects that just keep getting worse? Cause I imagine waterbourne ingestion is like being in a microwave, melting from the inside out.
Meh.Aloe 15th Jun 2012, 7:34 AM edit delete reply
I think the only affliction it can cause is severe meltiness!
AlfaFoxtail 15th Jun 2012, 9:31 AM edit delete reply
I said it before and i'll say it again, i love their relationship
Shadowstitch 15th Jun 2012, 2:26 PM edit delete reply
Never put all your octopi in one basket.
cattservant 16th Jun 2012, 5:50 PM edit delete reply
I bet the next generation of Landwalkers have water tight compartments in their environment suits.
CyberSkull 21st Jun 2012, 5:49 AM edit delete reply
So how far spread is the death?
cattservant 21st Jun 2012, 6:02 AM edit delete reply
Check the rough map on the Random Stuff page. I think they found the tank about half way between Mary's house and the Lab. Notice how far away Miwa's house is.
