Oh Miwa, why do your wheels have wheels?

Since there's no comic tomorrow and I don't want anyone to panic, I will reveal that Miwa is not, in fact, turning evil. She's just being a little bitch, not a big one.

If that's Miwa's little-bitch face in panel 9, I'd hate to see her big-bitch one.

It's the one where she's only smiling a little...

Yeah, but her line in panel 8 could've been "Why so serious, Mary??" and the look in panel 9 would've been the same. Even if the words changed.
pancake 16th Jun 2012, 12:06 AM edit delete reply
i'm pretty sure it's either Miwa's fantasy or Mary's nightmare (less likely).

No you can't steal him in an hour. You can't do something and it is killing you, you stupid bitch. Welcome to reality! Glad you finally arrived.

Ok...I feel better. She reminds me of The Riddler (yes as in the supervillian). I love to hate them both for the same reason. The sheer arrogance. It's always fun when people like them have their self-created fantasy worlds come crashing down around them and crushing their over inflated egos and minds up inside of it.

Awww, I like arrogant people. They're very reliable and their moods are generally not severe.

I'd like to like them. I mean I'd like them if they would let me be now and then. I get tired of the few I know always in my face unable to understand how I can't just coast through life in happiness, luck, and skill like they think they do. Plus I've accepted my failures and fallibility. It's not fair they can just think they don't even have the problems and it bugs me to death.

Wtf... it'll be interesting how you write miwa and mary out of this melodramatic scene. Also, why should i care that the calimari are dead? Oh, that's right, they're no longer edible.
Greeb 15th Jun 2012, 11:01 PM edit delete reply
Ah ha ha! Miwa's brilliant. Definately not tactful, but in this case that's probably a good thing.

Miwa's a total bitch.
Greeb 15th Jun 2012, 11:45 PM edit delete reply
She's being a total bitch, true. But think about it this way; if you have a campfire that's about to go out, what do you do? You put another log on it, to fuel it.

Mary has just lost a lot. I said a few pages earlier that I wasn't too sure if this was something she could come back from. An overwhelming sadness grew from losing her friends, and perhaps, even her family; from her perspective. I suspect that sadness was in danger of putting Mary's fire out. It wasn't really even something that Jim could help her with.

But Miwa, on the other hand, in a completely bitchy, untactful way, points out that Mary hasn't lost everything. Mary has a guy she loves. Miwa points out that Mary's still going to have to fight, in order to keep him, else Miwa may well sink her seductive fangs into him.

Miwa just threw a barrel of lighter fluid onto Mary's dwindling fire.

ravenor78
Well deducted and maybe miwas lack of tact is the best way to "rekindle the fire" as you say but she's still a bitch.
JasperWB 16th Jun 2012, 12:02 AM edit delete reply
JasperWB
Heh. While on the topic of Batman super villians, I've decided Miwa is actually Poison Ivy. Always has a defense force of those who can think she does no wrong (usually by getting all up in their brains with chemicals) and she has a unique relationship with plants. Plus, she is headstrong still so the bitch factor works.

*sigh*. Now I have to go binge on comics.

So, is this miwa's sadistic way of being nice? Enraging Mary so she's not sad anymore while at the same time enjoying telling the truth?

It may not have been that clear in the actual comic that the round that deflected into the lake was full of XVT.

SCARY MIWA IS SCARY! D:

If it weren't for today's author's note, I would be convinced that the next page would involve attempted murder.

Miwa is still awesome, but with this page my vibe for her is drifting more towards "scary, but cool, super-villain awesome."
Vordreller 17th Jun 2012, 10:42 AM edit delete reply
No Miwa, you couldn't take him in an hour. Or any amount of time. Because Jim is smarter than that.

You're a kid who wants her shiny toy and thinks its entitled to it somehow. Mary overcame her shyness and grew as a person.
----------------------------------------------
Bit of a long fart of text. Mostly thinking to myself. Wanted to post it anyway.

It's a simple psychological fallacy. Everyone, at least once in their life, is told that you only get the things you want if you deserve them. Super-smart or super-pretty people therefor conclude that since they have gotten everything they ever wanted, it must mean they deserve all of it, simply by being themselves. And when they don't get what they want, they don't understand. And when someone else takes what they want, they get angry. Because they honestly believe they deserve it, and it was taken away from them.

How would anyone reading this feel, if someone stole your new phone right after you bought it, and everyone around you told you that you have no right to complain and you're not allowed to fight back? That thing you got so worked up for and finally got through saving up your money earned by working extra shifts, taken away from you in the blink of an eye. And your environment telling you that you can't get it back, and you should feel bad for wanting it back.
