No comic tomorrow, but this isn't as cliffhangery as usual.

Shoot in my family we all could drink wine at special dinners and stuff from a little above the age of Hans. Not a ton, mind you, but it was just kinda like part of the meal. And we're not even a Mediterranean blooded family!
ravenor78 22nd Jun 2012, 9:13 PM edit delete reply
Even though i'm offered it at least once a week i absolutely cannot drink wine... at all... or beer for that matter... what's wrong with me?
Phuji 22nd Jun 2012, 9:29 PM edit delete reply
Wine is an acquired taste. One that I have not acquired.
Beer is the same but that taste is much more easily acquired. Because Beer is good.
JasperWB 22nd Jun 2012, 9:41 PM edit delete reply
To me wine is infinitely less harsh than many beers, even when its pretty powerful. Course I don't like the taste of hops. I prefer a stronger grain taste in beer.

I notice (panel 7) that Hans knows how to be effectively polite.
Gigan 22nd Jun 2012, 11:12 PM edit delete reply
Wine can be acquired as a taste, just a matter of what you like. Riesling got me into wine proper. It's nicely sweet.

When you get over the top, there's no more cliff to hang off of...

Love the toast.
kill3st 22nd Jun 2012, 10:58 PM edit delete reply
with the peacefulness of this page, you could end the comic here, and most people would be satisfied...
Especially me, because then you can start your next project...

Ahhh, that's actually pretty tempting.

Undead H3r3tic
How much more do you have planned with this series?
JasperWB 22nd Jun 2012, 11:37 PM edit delete reply
The Miwa Situation needs resolution. Too many questions about her. At least from me. She either will gain acceptance or insanity, or both, and I want to see it dammit! That's the only loose end I see though.

Err. Didn't mean to tell you how to run your comic lol

There's one more chapter planned. About twelve hours of in-comic time.
JasperWB 23rd Jun 2012, 12:02 AM edit delete reply
This must be the chapter end then?

So for every chapter PLANNED most comic artist have sated they have gone a few years after that :).
JasperWB 23rd Jun 2012, 3:04 AM edit delete reply
View is not most comic artists. From my understanding the level of pre-planning the entire comic has at any one time is astounding. In one way or another, I think this comic has been completely finished, dialog and all! It just all needs to be drawn as the final product.
Seafog 23rd Jun 2012, 3:30 AM edit delete reply
Heh, I don't think its quite THAT through Jasper, but I have to admit, the amount of research, characterization and world building View goes through is kind of mind boggling to me.
Every time a question is asked, View whips up a response that has a great 'tip of the iceberg' quality to it. I'm in awe of your story/character/world chops View, as shown in both NMG and Crater High. It just blows my mind.
view 23rd Jun 2012, 3:34 AM edit delete reply
It's really not as hard as people make it sound, but thanks.
ANonMoose 23rd Jun 2012, 2:10 AM edit delete reply
Hey view you ever consider opening up a store? For commissions or even NMG trinkets and apparel?

Handling money is a pain in the ass. Maybe if there was a whole lot of money on the line.

I should probably think of a way for the audience to express themselves, though. Right now, I just draw faces for whoever wants them.
JasperWB 23rd Jun 2012, 4:28 AM edit delete reply
Well I'm happy with how things are. Simple is nice and the environment is friendly here. I don't know what could or needs to be changed so we could really express ourselves. I don't like how big and distant so many comics and authors get trying to be what they think they /need/ to be instead of being what they are and just growing naturally. For now, I still think all is well.

But hell, if you ever did want to change things or bounce ideas around for doing so I'd be happy to lend a hand any way I could.

I'm sure the Commenteers could dig up enough raw ore for view to refine plot-onian from!
AlfaFoxtail 23rd Jun 2012, 10:58 AM edit delete reply
so if we're nearing the end of this long was this story?
cattservant 23rd Jun 2012, 11:41 AM edit delete reply
Count the archives...
AlfaFoxtail 24th Jun 2012, 3:26 AM edit delete reply
no no sorry XD i should have made that question differently, i meant how long has passed in universe since the story started.
cattservant 24th Jun 2012, 3:32 AM edit delete reply
That's a good question. Six months to a year (approximately)?
Time is very relaxed in Nowheresville, except when it is very not!
cattservant 23rd Jun 2012, 11:44 AM edit delete reply
Possible Epiphany Alert!!! (Panel 2) The Gap?(!)
Sheela 23rd Jun 2012, 4:24 PM edit delete reply
Heh, so I wasn't the only one who thought it seemed to fit the title quite nicely. :)
Lizardbreath 23rd Jun 2012, 1:52 PM edit delete reply
Does Hans have to drink with a straw because his mouth parts aren't flexible enough to drink directly from the glass without spilling? Or does he just like straws?
cattservant 23rd Jun 2012, 5:30 PM edit delete reply
Better than he likes wine!
Lizardbreath 23rd Jun 2012, 10:59 PM edit delete reply
Seems like Hans would like a poke with a sharp stick better than he likes wine! I'm still wondering if the straw is a necessity or a preference, though.
cattservant 23rd Jun 2012, 11:06 PM edit delete reply
Maybe it's an only nine thing?
Fake 23rd Jun 2012, 7:38 PM edit delete reply
Wait, so robots can eat and drink? And if that is true, they do poop?
view 23rd Jun 2012, 7:46 PM edit delete reply
They don't eat.
Sheela 23rd Jun 2012, 10:58 PM edit delete reply
By that, do you mean, they cannot gain energy from food, or not being able to intake solid food at all ?

I reckon there could be some mental satisfaction for a robot, to be able to partake in a human meal, even if one had to "empty the bladder" afterwards, so-to-speak.
cattservant 23rd Jun 2012, 11:03 PM edit delete reply
Not to mention acting human.
view 24th Jun 2012, 12:35 AM edit delete reply
There's a limit to how much space you have inside you. Are you going to devote 30% of your torso, neck, and head space to eating?
TorpedoBench 23rd Jun 2012, 11:36 PM edit delete reply
Less clifhangery? They're all sitting on a literal cliffhang!
ravenor78 24th Jun 2012, 11:27 AM edit delete reply
Lol, hanz' pokerface in the last panel as he drains the wine.
CyberSkull 24th Jun 2012, 4:12 PM edit delete reply
Is that regular booze the robots are having or a mecha-intoxicant (fermented oil?)?
view 24th Jun 2012, 5:03 PM edit delete reply
CyberSkull 24th Jun 2012, 7:07 PM edit delete reply
Does alcohol affect them the same?
view 24th Jun 2012, 7:22 PM edit delete reply
Because they're programmed for it, yeah.
