Now with added cheesy comic stylings!

I think Jim's official nickname should be "Mr. Squeekie", because every piece of machinery he owns goes "squeekie squeekie squeekie"

If anyone can guess what is going "squeekie squeekie" on this page, I'll draw them a sketch of something! Well, the first person, if there is one.
view 25th Jun 2011, 2:28 AM edit delete
Okay, I'm declaring it a double win: Archduke got really close, and then Valatar stood on his shoulders and guessed even closer.

The answer is, by the way, Gretel's disassembled body lifting weights.

So they can request a sketch each, either in the comments here or via a note on CF, HF, or DA.

The sketch can't require any research, so I recommend asking either for something generic, or something from one of my comics.

Gretel is trying out her new body by jumping up-and-down on Jim's bed...
view 24th Jun 2011, 4:59 PM edit delete reply
Robots are heavy, I recommend not letting them jump on any of your furniture. Especially if you were in it until two minutes ago!
WhiteAier 24th Jun 2011, 5:33 PM edit delete reply
I think it's his toothbrush squeeking xD Just because the squeeks stop the panel he takes it out of his mouth. :p
view 24th Jun 2011, 5:36 PM edit delete reply
Ahh... I couldn't fit "squeekie" in that panel...

His toothbrush is not squeekie, unfortunately.

Some kind of machinery that is doing something which upsets or surprises Mary...if that's too vague then I'm supposing it's someone else over at the house using some kind of machinery. Maybe Miwa? I don't know, I'd just like that sketch!
view 24th Jun 2011, 7:11 PM edit delete reply
Testing the new "reply" feature!

I guess, um, if nobody else gets any closer, you'll win?
JasperWB 24th Jun 2011, 7:17 PM edit delete reply
I feel bad. I was so vague. Someone will probably be able to get closer though.
jst56strong 24th Jun 2011, 7:35 PM edit delete reply
Is she flapping the door back and forth behind her back because she feels super awkward or turned on?
jst56strong 24th Jun 2011, 7:38 PM edit delete reply
or possibly her shoes and the noise at the end was here falling?

Btw Great F***ING work. Every comic you make is just perfect.
view 24th Jun 2011, 7:41 PM edit delete reply
Thanks! But, unfortunately, your squeekie noise guess is innnncorrect.
Prestidigititis 24th Jun 2011, 9:52 PM edit delete reply
So Jasper's guess is the closest so far, hm? Maybe if I refine his guess slightly, I'll have the advantage.

I need to come up with the out-of-panel-squeak-source-guess equivalent of betting exactly one dollar more than the previous contestant in the bidding portion of The Price Is Right.

Or I could do the jerk-wad move equivalent of betting "$1." Which in this case is probably "the squeak is being caused by a squeaking thing."

The Price is Right is criminally underutilized as an illustrative analog. Maybe I should work to change that.
view 24th Jun 2011, 9:56 PM edit delete reply
If you want to do something like that, please emulate QI or Buzzcocks instead of the Price is Right...
Prestidigititis 24th Jun 2011, 10:41 PM edit delete reply
I'm not capable of thinking up to Stephen Fry levels. Like the mountain climber from Cliff Hangers during a very skilled contestant's session, I barely reach any notable range of elevation.

I have been compared to Marc Maron though. But I don't think you'd know who he is or why he's relevant to this thread.
view 24th Jun 2011, 10:44 PM edit delete reply
And Alan Davies goes... squeekie squeekie squeekie
Prestidigititis 25th Jun 2011, 12:10 AM edit delete reply
He was my second guess.
duLapel 24th Jun 2011, 10:16 PM edit delete reply
Miwa (nearly naked) on a stationary exercise bike... That should get a WAUGH out of Mary...

I love frame 4's OTP (Oglin' those pects) and reciprocal OTC.
view 24th Jun 2011, 10:45 PM edit delete reply
Hey, hey, just going to keep guessing over and over?

Amusingly, if your guesses weren't incredibly wrong, they would be closest to right. :D

I'm glad the ogling in panel 4 was clear, I wasn't sure.
JasperWB 24th Jun 2011, 10:49 PM edit delete reply
Pssh. Damn. I take back my sorrow. I should have done the eBay bidder thing, waited till the last moment then came along all like "lol check this".
Archduke 24th Jun 2011, 11:08 PM edit delete reply
Gretel, or an octopus, exercising :P
view 24th Jun 2011, 11:15 PM edit delete reply
Ha ha, this isn't very accurate, but it's the closest so far!

Actually, I can't imagine anyone getting any closer...
view 25th Jun 2011, 2:29 AM edit delete reply
You guessed right, so you win - see the new author's note at the top of the page.
duLapel 24th Jun 2011, 11:29 PM edit delete reply
@ view: to be fair, you didn't put a limitation on the number of guesses... But this will be my last WAG (Wild Ass Guess).

It's a dwarf octopus in a robo-suit pushing around Jim's fix-it cart and when it sees Mary, it says... "Hi Mom."

view 24th Jun 2011, 11:52 PM edit delete reply
That's how we employ the landwalker octopi: we have them walk back and forth pushing carts. It saves on... um... bills...
duLapel 25th Jun 2011, 1:30 AM edit delete reply
Your enjoying this waaaaay too much... besides us LWO need to eat too... besides paying for all those bandages...

Gretel, making fitness with her new body >:3
view 25th Jun 2011, 1:47 AM edit delete reply
It doesn't win, mostly because Archduke already suggested it...
scorp29 30th Jun 2011, 10:02 AM edit delete reply
Héhé, no prob, I'm always a little late while reading your comic x)
Valatar 25th Jun 2011, 2:15 AM edit delete reply
I believe it's Gretel's body, just not with her inside it yet. So looking creepy and half-assembled, maybe headless, something that would have startled any visitors.
view 25th Jun 2011, 2:26 AM edit delete reply
Heh, you win!

See the new author's note...
Valatar 25th Jun 2011, 3:27 AM edit delete reply
Woo! And I know *precisely* what needs to happen for sketchie. The cheerleaders giving Miwa their... rather frank advice about how to get a man that one likes. All the details I leave completely up to you; given their personalities, pretty much any possible rendition is bound to be gold.
JasperWB 25th Jun 2011, 2:25 AM edit delete reply
Gretel and BOTH of her bodies. The transition requires either both working at once or her being in pieces. Either way, it's her looking weird testing things out?
kill3st 25th Jun 2011, 4:34 AM edit delete reply
Can we all get a link to the sketch(es)?

This Jim is looking somewhat cooler than earlier renditions . If losing a shirt has that effect, I'll go topless more often...
view 25th Jun 2011, 4:36 AM edit delete reply
Neither of them is terribly pornographic, so I'll put them both on the extras page.
kill3st 25th Jun 2011, 4:39 AM edit delete reply
P.s.... I was gonna guess gretel, but I put too much stock in your description. that everything Jim owns squeaks he doesn't actually own her body, does he?
view 25th Jun 2011, 4:51 AM edit delete reply
In actuality, the body he's using to test isn't Gretel's, it's a second body identical to it for doublecheck testing and emergency parts.
Valatar 25th Jun 2011, 5:16 AM edit delete reply
"Ownership" seems a little nebulous on this world, as we've yet to see anyone pay for anything. They either have an economy that isn't obvious with some sort of automatic deductions from accounts, are all socialist, or are Star Trek-ish "we replicate what we want for free so money is stupid now".
Prestidigititis 25th Jun 2011, 5:10 AM edit delete reply
Please tell me there'll be more opportunities for sketch-winning in the future!

Sure, why not.
