Having a tough time because it's over a hundred degrees. Blaaaargh.

Mary's not scared of motorcycles or anything. She's just taking her anger out on him a little.

EDIT: I've actually been getting PMs about the "error" of Miwa's hair showing through. That's because she's wearing a "supertransparent shirt". See the extras page for a closeup, if you like, but the whole point is that when you look at her shirt, you see whatever is behind her.

She has a... unique... fashion sense.

This will become steadily clearer as the pages go on, but since there is a day between each page, I guess I should make it clear now.

D'awwwww.

This d'aw can be applied to both the cuteness and the "blargh heat". I hear you. :D

Well, you know what they say, it's not so much the heat as the humi... lack of air conditioning.

My respect for the Miwa person dropped like a brick at that last panel.

Unless it was just a friendly friend thing. Doesn't seem that way though, what with her being stealthy and waiting for Mary to leave.

The situation is a bit more complex, but yeah, she's not nearly as sympathetic a character as some people seem to think. It was a tough decision whether to show her hiding or hide her hiding from the audience and leave her as a more sympathetic character.

I decided to go for a slow climb, rather than the crash-and-climb that a reveal would be.

I'm seriously thinking about waiting for a chapter or more to be done, then reading them at once. I'm embarrassed by my own inability to keep people and plots straight. Until today, I seriously thought this chapter was a flashback to a few years before the events of chapter one.

... Err, definitely not. This story only has one flashback, and it's three panels long and in a much later chapter.

If you tell me the points of confusion, it might help me to avoid such problems.

I wrote up a response, but it's lengthy and inconsequential to the rest of the commentocracy, so I'll send it to you in a private message. Suffice it to say it's my own weird brain, and nothing you should feel obliged to adjust in your style.

That invisibility cloth that Miwa is using for a vest has DARPA written all over it...

It will be interesting to see how the Miwa vs Mary rivalry matures. I've really seen nothing to give me insight to Miwa's personality, that is nothing that isn't held in common with a vast majority of human females. I've seen this kind of rivalry played out a myriad of times and both parties have been nice people... I know a lot about Mary and nothing of Miwa... and I curious about a woman who by waring a "see all the way through" vest is metaphorically saying she is heartless!

It is, in fact, surplus optical camo gear. Originally, she was going to explain it in a later part of this chapter, but it was boring, so I un-scripted it.

Optical camo is pretty much worthless these days, so she got a couple hundred meters of it on the cheap from Boulder.

Miwa isn't a bad person, but she is the sort of person who won't slow down if you're in her way...

It's probably just me but I get the sneaking suspicion that Miwa may have deliberately sabotaged Mary's mini date. She just seemed to conveniently show up around/before Mary's coworker did and was quick to jump in once Mary was out of the picture.

Of course the later part is expected. While the first part is more just a guess or hunch on my part. Just considering there usually is some kind of drama when it comes to romance-ish stories. Probably completely wrong. xD;;

It'll become clearer on the following pages, but Miwa has been really, really trying to find Jim for about a week.

She didn't start the octopi fracas, but she was probably considering how to jump in against Mary. Jumping on Jim's back with Mary two feet away might make things socially uncomfortable.

Shit it's damn hot and pretty humid where I am too. We haven't hit 100 yet but stepping into the sun after 8 in the morning destroys you. I have Central Air in the place I am currently in though so at least it's cool inside but crossing the yard is just unpossible.

Although she's 'attractive', I could tell Miwa was a bit cold-hearted and independent. Kind of clinical? The type of girl that will make a guy prostrate himself without any effort, and got used to this power growing up. I guess that's why she's attracted to Jim? A guy who, contrary to the rest, is rather indifferent and definitely not a player.

Hmm, I don't know if that's precisely it. If this were a typical manga, she'd probably be the kogal character. So, yeah, sometimes clinical, but it's not like she's unsociable.
