I guess I should make it clear: her dad is the wetlands expert. I'm not sure I made that clear in the comic. A big part of the reason she has that specialty is because her father's work is similar to it.

So she's got a reason to consult with her dad, but she's still coming off a bit childish...

I want that shirt in a men’s XL long and a matching a hat and pants and shoes so all I’ll be is a face and hands. Mischief for the win.

Well, it has a pretty limited spectrum. Even if you were completely covered in it, ultraviolet or infrared sensors will pick you up. Also, things like molecular analysis and sonic monitoring will pick you up no problem.

Late-model police and military gear all does that sort of scanning, so the actual military usefulness was very limited. Civilians could find it useful, sure, but mostly for criminal activities, so it was strictly regulated.

There is always an advantage to camouflage (and visible light spectrum invisibility certainly falls in this category), even when your opponents have other means of detecting you. It denies them one means of detection... and not all your opponents have the Head mounted whistles and bells pan-spectrum and ultra-sound Borg-eye detection system and three-way bottle opener.

Invisible shirt is best shirt. Mary would probably be jealous as hell right now, which is probably why Miwa hid.

Yes, that's exactly it!

The invisible clothing would be the best lolz device on the planet. If Anonymous or their counterparts and general delinquents had this kind of stuff you better believe every major city would have a fresh coat of paint and every bad high school/collage teach would have some sort of shenanigans pulled on them. Nothing that illegal, just funny as hell.

Yeah, but it cost $10,000 a square inch back when there was a military.

...which would conveniently explain why she's not wearing very MUCH of it.

She's fine, she's just not very important to our story.

Her dad is, however, the wetlands expert.

I do love Jim's look in the last picture. He just does not look amused with Miwa being all clingy.
